On Thursday 4 August 2022, the City of Wolverhampton will proudly host the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Cycling Time Trial with the race starting and finishing at our spectacular West Park.

With not long to go until the start of the games, residents and local businesses are encouraged to attend the drop-in sessions to find out how they will be directly affected.

At the sessions, which will be led by Commonwealth Games representatives, you will find out more information on:

  • The full route and road closures on race day
  • Where you can watch the action from for free
  • City Centre Activities

The drop-in sessions will take place on:

  • Tuesday 17 May, 11am – 5pm at Newhampton Arts Centre, Dunkley Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 4AN
  • Wednesday 18 May, 2pm – 4pm for businesses at Wolverhampton Art Gallery (Georgian Room), Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 1DU
  • Wednesday 18 May, 4pm – 7pm for residents at Wolverhampton Art Gallery (Georgian Room), Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 1DU

Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment and Climate Change, said: “The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be here before we know it, and we’re really excited that the location of the men’s and women’s Cycling Time Trials will be in the City of Wolverhampton along with our partner Local Authorities across the West Midlands.

“This is obviously a big occasion in our city, but understandably, I know residents and businesses will be concerned about how they could potentially be impacted by the race.

“These engagement sessions are largely targeted at residents and businesses living or working near to where the event is taking place, so I would encourage people to attend one of the dates and find out how they can prepare for the Games this summer.”
