It is the season of goodwill and people are being urged to get behind the latest Crowdfund Wolves projects.

The fundraising platform has so far helped 14 worthy causes hit their targets, with more than £160,000 raised between them from a total of 640 backers.

One of the latest projects currently raising money to create a high-level sensory room to support young people and children from Wolverhampton and surrounding areas who suffer with sensory disabilities and difficulties, is The Way - Wolverhampton Youth Zone.

The facility will enable young people with specific needs to visit the same building as their friends and peers. They will benefit from the mental stimulation and improved motor skills that the specialised equipment provides and they will feel less isolated from other children. It will also help young people to calm down and manage stressful situations.

The Way is now halfway towards its £32,996 Crowdfund Wolves target, which has triggered a ten per cent donation from City of Wolverhampton Council.

Richard Ralph, Grants & Trusts Manager at The Way said: "We need more support from local people and businesses. They can pledge their support from as little as £2 at https://www.spacehive.com/thewaysensory."

He added: "As we are approaching the Christmas period, maybe people don't want to send cards this year or they are fed up of buying and receiving presents that neither they or their friend or relative actually need. Why not pledge this money to a great cause that will help many young people for years to come? The whole essence of Crowdfunding is to make small amounts go a long way."

The project has just 42 days left to achieve its target and has to hit 100 per cent for the Sensory Room to be built as planned.

City of Wolverhampton Council Leader, Councillor Ian Brookfield, said: “It’s the season of goodwill and I would urge people to give as generously as possible to these very worthy projects.

“Through Crowdfund Wolves we are helping connect people, ideas and support to enable city residents to turn ideas into reality and shape City of Wolverhampton’s future.

“These projects are also providing valuable support to families across the city and helping them thrive.”
