A Wolverhampton council worker who found fame after becoming an unexpected hit on TV will be turning on the Christmas Lights in Tettenhall this year.

Lewis ‘Lew’ Carrington, aged 62, works for Wolverhampton City Council’s Street Scene Team, and regularly appears on ITV1’s Grimefighters, dealing with Fly Tips and Road Kills on a daily basis.

He has had lots of attention since starting the show and now has a following of over 600 people on his Facebook Fan Site http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=103743364935

Lew's Daughter Carla said "He's a normal chap, with a great sense of humor and he's becoming really quite popular and regularly getting spotted when he is out and about, people are even stopping him in the street for photos and autographs!"

He's even been described by his fans as "a legend", "a funny happy chap", "Lew for Mayor!" and "Lew for his own TV show!" People love how outspoken and down to earth he is and like Lew would say... "he calls a spade a spade."

Lew is really looking forward to turning on the Christmas lights in Tettenhall and hopes there is a good turn out for the night. Tettenhall Christmas lights switch-on is being held at Tettenhall Green, Friday 27th November, 5.00pm - 6.30pm

Grimefighters is aired on ITV1 every Wednesday at 7.30pm
