Newhampton Arts Centre have an exciting twist in their up-coming October half-term children’s activities, having teamed up with Wolverhampton’s Funny Things Comedy Festival to offer something a little different. Get ready for an exciting programme of children's theatre, comedy and workshops with activities suitable for kids of all ages.

 

Kicking things off is Judy Needs A House! It’s Baby’s first birthday and Judy is making a party for him, where people from the audience are invited to participate. Unfortunately, through a series of events Judy and the baby will find themselves homeless. After other adventures and meeting with other characters, Judy decides to ask the children in the audience for help. Children will have to use their own creativity, skills and lots of art material and recycled cardboard boxes to make a new house for the puppets! (Suitable for ages 3- 12yrs) Monday 28th October with 11am & 2pm show times. Tickets: Adult £6 child £4 Family £18.

 

Children can create their very own expressive comic character in mask form with artist and creator Tom Ellis and his October Half-Term Comic Alter Ego Mask workshop. This unique opportunity to transform into something completely wacky and new is inspired by Chris Sievey & his beautifully surreal and fun masked alter ego Frank Sidebottom. Drop-in workshop runs from 11am – 12.30pm on Wednesday 30th October priced at £5 per child and recommended for ages 7 plus.

 

Freelance historical tour guide, Katie Pritchard will be visiting NAC’s theatre on Wednesday the 30th October at 6pm for her hilarious family show Hysterical Histories. Expect a high-octane tour of history, where Katie will bring history to life LIVE before your very eyes with songs about how much King Henry VIII loves his wives, and Joan of Arcs obsession of cheese, with laughs for kids and adults alike. * WINNER Musical Comedy Awards 2019* Tickets:  Adult £6 child £4 or Family of 4 for £18.

 

NAC’s much loved drop-in NACtivist art and craft workshop is back! And this time the circus is coming to town, returning Friday 1st November at 10am till 12pm and 1pm till 3pm with Curious Circus Workshop. You can expect a range of creative children’s arts and crafts involving clowns, acrobats and much more! There will also be a balloon artist from Inflate and Paint on hand to impress and even share some very special clowning skills with you and your children. Recommended for  3+. (The same activities will run for the morning and afternoon sessions) Places on this workshop are FREE to book with a Pay What You Feel donation on the day but must be booked in advance through NAC’s website.

 

On Saturday 2nd November at 11am Brazilian storyteller and performer, Anamaria Lines closing NAC’s half-term activities with her Day of the Dead workshop. Designed to explore the arts and cultural traditions associated with El Dio de Los Muertos, the Mexican Day of the Dead. Create an altar with flowers and other elements and explore the wonderful tradition of Catrina make up. Admission is just £4 per child recommended for children 7 years plus.
