JLF has dedicated the past decade creating an immense portfolio of work. “I love creating artwork and have increased my methods in creating art from drawing and painting to now etching and collaging. I think experimenting with a variety of mediums has helped open my mind to working collaboratively with other artists as I see it as an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone to accommodate another artist’s style.”

JLF has worked collaboratively with the likes of Kimberley Collins and Zoe Jones. Working with these artists helped introduce JLF to new ways of creating artwork, which he will carry forward for the years to come. “The ideology of collaborative projects is something that I have always wanted to do but never have until last year. The methods of creating the artwork is something that was a challenge for everyone involved as you have to visualise how the other artist will use the space on the canvas to their advantage, it was a fantastic experience and I enjoyed the challenge of working alongside 2 incredible artists.”

In creating his own projects, he takes inspiration from artists such as David Lynch and Dave McKean to Japanese Cyberpunk movies. “I get inspiration from all manner of things, I listen to a broad range of music which helps fuel me when I’m painting or etching. I always tell people you can get inspiration from anywhere, whether it is locations, movies, album covers or other artists and I feel that it’s an amalgamation of all those which motivates me.”

Regarding the future: “I want to work larger, I have painted on large canvases before but I want to explore even larger than my current canvases which range in the 70 cm mark. Opportunity-wise I want to have another solo exhibit but I also want to dabble more in digital exhibitions. I have been part of two digital exhibitions so far and believe there is a future in that particular market, so to have the opportunity to explore that avenue for a solo themed project would be something that I would want to pursue in the long haul.”
