Jazz Returns to Wolverhampton this Autumn.

Earlier this year a brand new contemporary Jazz music programme was launched in Wolverhampton. ‘JAZZ at NAC’ is a new project delivered by local enthusiasts known as Jazz at Wolverhampton and Newhampton Arts Centre. The first season was a huge success attracting large crowds and featured some of the world’s most renowned jazz musicians including, trumpeter Steve Fishwick and pianist Zoe Rahman.

 

NAC and jazz at Wolverhampton has had some amazing feedback from audiences and artists alike and has been delighted with the response to the programme so far. The two parties have been working closely to bring carefully selected names to a fresh new season of  JAZZ for the Autumn.

 

Orjan Hulten is an acclaimed Swedish saxophonist who brings his quartet Orion to the UK for the first time in support of new album Minusgrader. Presented as part of a tour organised by Jazz West Midlands. Sunday 22nd September - NAC - £14.

 

Chris Biscoe is an renowned multi-instrumentalist who has played with big bands led by Mike Westbrook, Tony Kinsey & Graham Collier amongst others. One Friday 11 October he will bring a strong band to our programme featuring Allison Neale, Colin Oxley, Jeremy Brown and Matt Fishwick - NAC - £15.

 

Tori Freestone is one of the UK’s fastest-rising bandleaders and has many rave reviews and awards to her name. She brings her Trio (Tim Giles and Dave Manington on drums and bass) to Wolverhampton in support of her acclaimed new album El Mar De Nubes. Friday 8th November - NAC - £13.

 

Josephine Davies is the composer at the forefront of the contemporary jazz scene, she brings to Wolverhampton her trio with drummer James Maddren and bassist Dave Whitford. Satori play with a set-up which allows melodic freedom & band interaction. Josephine has been resident composer & tenor
