Kuli Kohli, Wolverhampton's poet laureate, has been selected as the Rebecca Swift Foundation Creative Associate for Wolverhampton. "We are delighted that Kuli's been selected for this role," said Simon Fletcher, Offa's Press manager. "It should be a great boost for women poets in Wolverhampton."
Kuli runs the South Asian Women’s Writers’ Group and co-hosts the live literature show ‘Virtual Voices’ for Offa’s Press. She is also an enthusiastic member of the RSPB.
She has battled with mild cerebral palsy and achieved a great deal in her life as council worker, mother and writer. Her appearances on BBC’s ‘Sunday Morning Live’ and ‘Poetry, Please!’ drew national attention.
Her Patchwork and A Wonder Woman are both published by Offa’s Press. She was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Wolverhampton in 2022 and in March 2024 a photograph of her, by Anand Chhabra, was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery. Her position with the Rebecca Swift Foundation is one of only 3 national posts, the others being in Newcastle and London.
