Cheryl Ann Boot, CEO of CAB Inspirational Ltd (pictured at the Wolverhampton Literature Festival at Wolverhampton Art Gallery) is set to release her latest children’s book ‘Stay in, Miss out’. This beautifully illustrated rhyme book, aimed at primary school children aims to encourage children to spend more time in nature, as significant evidence demonstrates the contribution to positive mental health and wellbeing.

Cheryl is part of a project called ‘1 in 3’, led by Ian Henery delivering workshops in a safe and supportive environment for participants to explore and express an artistic response to gender-based violence.

The ‘1 in 3’ project, founded by Damayanthi Muthukumaranage, with project manager Diyodi Menon and funded by Arts Council England was a complete success, the raw emotion, deep truth and expression of feelings enabled participants to open up and share experiences in a safe space whilst exploring creativity. There will be a final exhibition of the project over several days in a spoken word and music festival to celebrate and empower the community.

Cheryl said “It has been an honour to be part of the 1 in 3 project, as my passion is community empowerment and promoting positive mental health and wellbeing and I am grateful to have the opportunity to release my latest book at the upcoming exhibition”.

About the book

Cheryl aims to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in the community and reach the younger generation through topics they can relate to. The rhyme and brightly coloured illustrations, encourages readers to apply positive thinking. Children are our future and Cheryl believes the positive impact on children helps the young minds of today to lead to future generation being better equipped to manage their own mental health and wellbeing”.

This book explores the life cycle of a young boy called Johnny, who makes excuses to not go outdoors, despite his mother encouraging him. Johnny grows up to realise what a beautiful world we live in. Follow Johnny through his journey and realise that one of the most beautiful things in the world is nature, exploring this through our senses and bringing the individual back to the ‘here and now’.
