A local published poet and playwright has been invited to share his work at the first-ever Stafford Litfest on Saturday 21st May 2022.
Ian Henery, whose 5th collection of poetry - Poems of Hope - is published by Kates Hill Press - will be reading at the University of Wolverhampton in Stafford from 1.30pm - 2.30pm with Brendan Hawthorne, Wednesbury Poet Laureate.
Ian will then be reading children`s poetry from Poems of Hope between 3pm - 4pm with the Lichfield Poets at Stafford Library.
The entire event is organised by Staffordshire Poet Laureate Mel Wardle Woodend, owner of Dream Well Writing Ltd, publishers of dyslexia friendly books.
The literature festival is sponsored by the University of Wolverhampton in Stafford and the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre.
"Mel Wardle Woodend has done a brilliant job organising it all" said Ian Henery, Walsall Poet Laureate "and she`s got some fantastic writers supporting her like Gary Carr, Leanne Cooper, Gabriella Gay, Brendan Hawthorne, the Lichfield Poets, Scarlett Ward-Bennett, Gary Longden, Jonathan Watkiss, Sandra Chambers, Lisa Johnston, Sharon Carr and Maria Credali. There is a real community out there and big respect and appreciation to Mel for organising it and making the whole event a success.
Mel and all of her team did an amazing job keeping everyone connected and creative online during the Covid pandemic. It`s going to be great seeing them in person after all of those online performances on Zoom. I`m just chuffed to have been invited!".
The Stafford literature Festival runs from 20th May - 22nd May 2022 with a little something for everyone. It`s a family event held in the heart of Stafford with the opportunity to meet authors and poets.
