There is still time to have your say on a proposed strategy to make Wolverhampton a 2041 net zero city.

Our Net Zero City is an evidence based, collaborative approach to cut the city’s carbon footprint.

By focusing on the benefits of taking positive climate action, the City of Wolverhampton Council strategy will enhance the quality of life for everyone living, working or visiting the city and for future generations.

A public consultation launched in September and ends this Saturday (December 14, 2024) at 11.59pm. Take part here 2041 Net Zero Strategy

The strategy has six main aims:

  • Residents and businesses to be well informed and empowered to take climate action.
  • Wolverhampton to run on smart local low-carbon heat and power.
  • Wulfrunians to enjoy warm and energy-efficient homes in Net Zero Neighbourhoods.
  • Sustainable businesses, jobs and skills to create a green and circular economy.
  • Equal access to sustainable transport across the city.
  • Ensuring people in the city have equal access to a nature-friendly and climate-resilient city.

Councillor Qaiser Azeem, City of Wolverhampton Council cabinet member for transport and green city, said: “The actions outlined in the strategy will see us kickstart what will be a collaborative, city-wide action plan to accelerate decarbonisation.

“Taking positive climate action is not only the right thing to do for the planet, but will also generate benefits for residents, including cleaner air, warmer homes, reduced congestion, active lifestyles and enhanced green spaces.

“The improvements will contribute to the city's resilience, making Wolverhampton a healthier and more sustainable place to live.

“I encourage everyone to take the time to complete the consultation survey and help us draw up a strategy that works for all.”
