A sadistic dentist will make fine dining for a man eating plant when Little Shop Of Horrors arrives at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre this October, starring Clare Buckfiled, Alex Ferns and Clive Row.
Down-and-out Skid Row floral assistant Seymour becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II” grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore offering him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite… but as Audrey II’s hungry demands increase, all that Seymour holds dear is threatened as the plant’s sinister agenda for global domination is revealed….
One of the longest-running off-Broadway shows of all time, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies has become a house-hold name, thanks to a highly successful film version and a score by the song writing team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. They also wrote the music and lyrics for Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast and Aladdin.
The cast includes Clare Buckfield (Audrey), Alex Ferns (Dentist), Damian Humbley (Seymour), Clive Rowe (Audrey II),Kraig Thornber (Mushnik) Cathryn Davis, Keisha Amponsa Banson, (Ronettes) and Brian Herring (Puppeteer). It is produced by Chocolate Factory Productions in association with the Churchill Theatre Bromley.
Clare Buckfield has been a Dancing on Ice finalist. Her team won in the ITV Christmas Special 2008. Her TV roles include in Steel River Blues and 2.4 Children. Alex Ferns has won many TV Awards for his portrayal of Trevor on EastEnders. He has also appeared onstage in Michael Grandage’s production of Guys and Dolls and recently toured in Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Damian Humbley was in the West End productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White.
Clive Rowe’s TV roles include the BBC series Tracey Beaker, Morvin in Doctor Who and the recent BBC series All the Small Things with Sarah Lancashire and Neil Pearson. His stage roles include an Award winning role in Guys and Dolls at the National Theatre and many pantomime Dames. Keisha Amponsa Banson, one of the Ronettes, was a finalist in the BBC’S I’d Do Anything last year.
