Wolverhampton Art Gallery is thrilled to announce the culmination of its innovative incubator programme, MORE ART INC. This initiative, aimed at supporting independent emerging artists aged 18 to 30 in the Black Country area, has been a resounding success.

MORE ART INC was designed to empower young artists by providing them with the tools and support necessary to develop their craft and professional skills. The programme included practical workshops, one-on-one mentoring, opportunities to engage with the broader art industry as well as create artwork in response to the galleries collection which will soon be exhibited at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.

This initiative was developed and delivered by Simon Suphandagli, Creative Producer for Children and Young People, Dinosaur Kilby, Creative Producer for Digital and project co-ordinator & local artist, Emily Scarrott.

Artists participated in a series of workshops led by industry professionals, including guest speakers such as Zie Smith, Linda Stupart, and Ewan Johnston as well as Nelson Douglas and Yvonne Gregory from Creative Black Country. These sessions covered a range of topics from artistic practice to career development.

The programme fostered a strong sense of camaraderie among participants, who supported each other through group critiques and off site visits, including one to IKON gallery in Birmingham. They also had opportunities to network with local artists and funders.

Upon completion of the 2.5-month programme, artists each received a £500 bursary and the chance to exhibit their work in the Focus Gallery at Wolverhampton Art Gallery.
