MORE ART INC was designed to empower young artists by providing them with the tools and support necessary to develop their craft and professional skills.
The programme included practical workshops, one-on-one mentoring, opportunities to engage with the broader art industry and the creation of artwork inspired by the collection at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, where the young artists’ work is now being exhibited.
The initiative was developed and delivered by Simon Suphandagli, Creative Producer for Children and Young People, Dinosaur Kilby, Creative Producer for Digital, and project co-ordinator and local artist, Emily Scarrott.
Artists participated in a series of workshops led by industry professionals that covered a range of topics from artistic practice to career development as well as building on their network. On completion of the programme each artist receives a £500 bursary.
The MORE ART INC. exhibition runs until Sunday, July 28.
City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for vibrant city, Councillor Chris Burden, said: “Art is so accessible and means different things to different people.
“This has been a great opportunity for emerging artists to enhance their skills, develop new ones and speak to people in the industry so that they can grow as a person and an artist.
“Wolverhampton Art Gallery has lots of opportunities that people can get involved with. Keep checking their social media and website for more details.”
The exhibition is free and open to everyone, showcasing the diverse talents of: Amaan Jahangir, Ethan Milovsorov, Leah Hickey, Natasha Stoianovska, Tamla Pearce, Daya Bhatti, Scarlett Ford, Jamal Lloyd Davis, Chandni Raithatha, and Sam Wootton.
