New dates announced for folk season in Wolverhampton

Three new dates have been announced for Newhampton Arts Centre’s long running folk at the NAC season. NAC are delighted to welcome back a live folk music season for spring 2022.

 

Folk duo OVER THE MOON  head to Newhampton Arts Centre  on  26th February all the way from Alberta, Canada. The Acoustic Roots Duo featuring Suzanne Levesque and Craig Bignell are award winning vocal and multi instrumentalists playing Americana/Canadiana/Western-Swing/Bluegrass and Acoustic Roots. These guys are the real deal, Canadian Cowboys who live on a ranch in Alberta’s Rocky Mountain foothills. Harmony, yodelling, two styles of banjo, stand-up bass, guitar, great stage presence, and two amazing voices make you sit up and pay attention.

 

Gregg Russell and Danny peddler arrive 19th March to present their new project. The collaboration of historian and musician Danny Pedler and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner Greg Russell has produced the debut album Field and Dyke, which created music inspired by real stories from real people living in South Holland district, south Lincolnshire. The album has received high acclaim and has introduced new music-making techniques into the British folk scene.

 

One of the first concerts for the welcome return of of the outdoor courtyard covered marquee will be Martin Simpson and Andy Cutting on 7th May. This will be a rare opportunity to see two of Britain’s foremost folk performers playing together. One of the finest guitarists in the world is joined by a technically outstanding melodeon player for this very special concert of folk and more. Martin Simpson has been awarded multiple honours among the BBC Radio 2 awards and NAC are delighted to welcome Martin back to folk at the NAC. Andy is three times winner of the Folk Musician of the Year award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and has appeared on around 50 albums, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other musicians.
