A new monthly film club has been launched as part of a range of community activities at Bilston Town Hall.
City of Wolverhampton Council has taken over the cinema screenings previously run by Friends of Bilston Town Hall for ten years.
The new film club offers professional screenings every third Monday of the month at the stunning Grade II-listed venue in Church Street.
The next screening will take place on Monday (June 19) and will feature the movie 'The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry’ (12A), with doors opening at 12.45pm and the film starting at 1.30pm.
Other community activities include tea dances every Wednesday - and from June 28 the Black Country Society will be hosting their meetings at the hall.
Some of the comedy stars heading to the venue this year are Tom Stade, Alfie Moore and Richard Blackwood & Kane Brown.
Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Visitor City, said: “We are continuing to improve the visitor experience at this historic venue and the new film club further enhances the offer.
“The sensitive restoration and improvements we have made to the Grade II-listed building now give us scope to provide a variety of entertainment to attract visitors to the town and support the local community.
“Bilston Town Hall is very much part of our plans to make Wolverhampton a thriving visitor city that in turn boosts businesses and creates jobs.”
Through Towns Fund accelerator funding, Bilston Town Hall has been beautifully restored with electrical upgrades, backstage improvements, the installation of an independent stage lighting rig and digital noticeboard, enabling the delivery of a wider range of community and commercial events at the venue.
