PQA Wolverhampton is expanding it’s poppets session by adding another class in the afternoon due to exceptional demand. Pre-School and older kids aged 4 to 5 years form the poppets at PQA and demand has meant that the 2 morning groups are completely full.
“Our Poppets classes are kept really small to ensure a very personal approach, classes will never have more than 8 regular students, this means that we fill up the sessions really easily”, said Julian, “As a result and looking at 2 full groups we took the decision to expand by adding a new class rather than making groups bigger by adding a teaching assistant, this allows us to maintain a high quality environment for our poppets”.
Poppets is PQA’s performing arts experience for 4-6 year olds. Poppets classes come in short and sweet 90-minute sessions and run alongside our normal academies. The classes include movement, dance, poetry, speech, singing, rhythm, teamwork, mime, expression and imagination, whilst building your Poppet’s confidence and social skills. Workshop leaders have bags of experience working with this age group and cram the sessions full of fun and laughter!
Poppets are currently exploring different era’s of music and dance, last week they looked at the 1920’s and this week it was the turn of Disco and the 1970’s. Poppets get the opportunity to perform before other students and parents in occasional assembly performances and in shows both of their own and as part of the whole academy.
The students of the morning academy will be moving on to some amazing projects in the coming months, in Musical Theatre they will be preparing for our incredible West End performance in 2020 (The whole academy has the opportunity to perform in London’s iconic West End at Her Majesty’s Theatre home to Phantom of the Opera in a specially written musical). In Film and TV the group have just recreated a scene from The Dark Knight for a national film competition while in Comedy and Drama they will be preparing monologues for a national competition.
