It’s time for eager runners to sign up for The Wolverhampton City Half Marathon which takes place on Sunday 4 September, returning to its traditional spot in the City’s running calendar after a two-year break due to the ongoing pandemic.
Runners aged 17+ can enter The Half Marathon while participants in the 10km should be aged over 15. Both races take place between 08:30 to 13:30. Make sure you get your entries in before registration closes at noon on Friday 1 September.
If you would rather join in by volunteering, then your assistance would be greatly appreciated. You can send an email with ‘volunteer’ in the subject line to help@stuweb.co.uk and experience the fun and excitement of the Half-Marathon that way.
Councillor Steve Evans, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for City Environment, said: “I’m particularly excited to see the new route that’s been developed which will see runners start and finish in West Park and use closed roads along a route that takes in parts of the Ring Road and City centre, as well as the north-west of the city.
"It’s a great opportunity for runners and walkers to challenge themselves while raising money for charity if they wish to do so, and I’d encourage everyone to take part or volunteer to experience the exciting atmosphere for themselves."
Phil Templar, Director of the Wolverhampton Half Marathon said: “There’s a tremendous excitement that the race is taking place again after having to be postponed for two years in a row due to pandemic restrictions.
“The new route we’re using makes for an enjoyably challenging race and it will undoubtedly help grow the race over the coming years. Future plans for the Half-Marathon also include offering residents and local charities the opportunity to get involved so that ultimately, high levels of participants come to the City to participate and can see the ongoing regeneration of Wolverhampton.”
