Paint the Day 2021 took place on Saturday 24th July, with eager artists taking to the streets, parks, canals, busy city centre and hidden beauty spots of the Wolverhampon and Whitemore Reans area to capture the day in their preferred visual style. After eight long creative hours, artists returned to Newhampton Arts Centre to handover and hang their Paint the Day entries.

The next day, Sunday the 25th July saw the grand opening of the Paint the Day exhibition at NAC’s Muni Art space located in the art’s centre’s gallery hall. The Victorian hall became full of artwork, artists, art lovers, buyers, voters, young creatives and the all-important Paint the Day judging panel who debated the works before them and make their final choices.

Awarding; Malcolm Pillar with first prize, Gabriella Tarantonio with runner up, Mermouna Shazad as our Under 18 winner, Emily Cowern our Photography winner with Kerry Worton being Photography runner up and Mermouna Shazad winnign our under 18 prize.


This year’s Paint the Day also included a very special prize sponsored by our friends at Wildside Activity Centre. This all-new ‘Canal Prize’ encourages participants to capture the beauty of the canals by enlarging our Paint the Day 2021 route to a new 3 mile radius. Winner of this Canal winner was Graham Stubbs.

The FREE public Paint the Day exhibition open daily from 11am- 4pm and is located in NAC’S Gallery Hall and continues until Sunday 1st August. The exhibition features all artwork that was made on that creative-filled day, attendees have the chance to take a masterpiece home by bidding for artwork in an auction format throughout the week.
