Play areas and outdoor gym equipment in city parks will re-open during the summer holidays, says City of Wolverhampton Council.
Councillor Steve Evans, Cabinet Member for City Environment at City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “During the summer holidays and beyond our city’s parks and green spaces remain open for all to enjoy. We are carefully reviewing all the information/guidance, and, subject to Public Health advice and the Covid-19 transmission rate, we hope to be able to re-open these facilities sooner rather than later.
“The health, wellbeing and safety of residents remains our top priority. And we urge residents to stay away from play areas and outdoor gyms until they’re officially re-opened.”
Equipment will be inspected and maintained regularly. New safety rules for play areas and outdoor gyms will only work if fully supported by residents - this includes:
Cllr Evans continued: “We will be relying on families to take responsibility for their children at all times, so they respect social distancing and clean their hands regularly.
“Even though it might feel like we have entered a new phase, we need to stay alert: especially given Covid-19 flare-ups in other areas nearby. Government social distancing measures are still in place and everyone should follow the guidance to help us avoid a local lockdown.”
Everyone is reminded they should book a test if they show symptoms of Covid-19, such as a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. For more information, and to apply for a test, please go to www.gov.uk/coronavirus or call 119. All appointments must be booked in advance.
People can also use the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust's Ask A&E tool at http://rwt.nhs.uk/askaande/ to input and monitor their symptoms and speak to a healthcare professional via video chat if required.
Anyone in Wolverhampton who tests positive for Covid-19 will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace and will need to isolate and share information about people that have been close contacts recently.
