Hum Saath Saath Hein / We Are All Together
The Wolverhampton Punjabi Women's Group, led by incoming Wolverhampton Poet Laureate Kuli Kohli, hopes to enhance cohesion within the rich, diverse communities who live in Wolverhampton with their free Offsite 9 event 'Hum Saath Saath Hein / We are all Together'.
Join them for an afternoon of evocative poetry and stories, followed by chai, chat and a samosa or two at Wolverhampton Central Library on Saturday 29th January from 1:30pm.
It will be a colourful event full of South Asian culture, with props and displays, food and music. Their poetry adopts the themes of BAS9 in Wolverhampton with a focus on bringing communities together, celebtrating our differences and similarities while promoting harmony and relationships.
Their stories are based on the women's experiences, using imagery to evoke the senses and take the listener on a journey.
The poems are all written in English with Punjabi/Hindi words which are translated before the performance.
The work has been commissioned by Creative Black Country for Offsite 9, funded by Arts Council of England with support from paycare.
