City residents who would like advice on a wide range of health and safety matters are being invited to a free open day organised by City of Wolverhampton Council.
A variety of city organisations will be on hand at the Community Hub, Ground Floor, Mander Centre, on Friday, July 1 between 10am and 3pm.
Residents are welcome to drop in and speak to any number of the organisations for free help and assistance.
Representatives from Black Country Alzheimer’s Society, Memory Matters, Carers Support, Telecare and Healthwatch will be in attendance along with disability employment advisors from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Further support will be available from the city centre Police and Neighbourhood Safety Coordinator, Public Protection Scams Team, Wolves Foundation and Wolverhampton Safeguarding Team.
Councillor Linda Leach, City of Wolverhampton Council’s cabinet member for adult services, said: “Help at the Hub is a new venture for us as a council. We are always trying to think of new ways that we can engage with our local community and help residents access support.
“People can face a number of challenging situations throughout their lives and the help is often out there – but knowing where to go to and who to ask for that guidance isn’t always obvious.
“By gathering a number of organisations in one place, we hope to be able to offer assistance to as many people as possible, whether they need help with concerns about health, advice on security or would like to discover ways to develop skills and find opportunities for learning.
“I hope many of our residents who need some support and guidance will pop along to the Hub and find the help they need.”
Help at the Hub has been organised by officers at the council’s Public Protection Scams Team who will be handing out free scams awareness and prevention packs.
Residents do not have to book an appointment but are asked to please be prepared to wait if the event is busy.
