Sandwell College is offering a brand-new series of free courses for adults to help people across the West Midlands gain valuable skills training.

The Level 3 courses, worth up to £5000, are delivered as part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs scheme which is focused on protecting, supporting, and creating jobs across the country.

The courses are designed to remove the age constraints and financial barriers for adults looking for their first Level 3 qualification. Ideally suited for those wanting to start studying again, re-train or upskill, the courses will enable access to a wide variety of skills training to help learners progress and improve their future job prospects. 

Shaun Hunt, Managing Director of Skills, Apprenticeships and Employers at Sandwell College, said: 

“We’re delighted to be able to offer these free Level 3 courses which allow adults to gain in-demand skills to help secure employment. The courses provide an opportunity for adults to upskill or retrain - it’s a life-changing opportunity. It’s even more important post-pandemic that businesses have employees with the right skills to help the economy recover.” 

Sandwell College is offering a choice of eight courses, all of which can be completed on a part-time basis. Courses range from Coding and Cyber Security Practises through to Engineering, Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair and Painting and Decorating.

The courses are free for anyone aged over 19 who does not yet have a full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate, diploma, or A-Levels) or higher, and lives in a WMCA postcode area.
