The Funny Things comedy festival brings a wealth of comic performances to Wolverhampton in the final week of October. On Saturday 26th October, and in conjunction with Creative Black Country, arts collective Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists will be presenting a show ‘Finding Our Funny Roots’ which will be celebrating the humour of the Black Country, the traditional jokes featuring Aynuk and Ayli, the work of comedians such as Tommy Mundon and Dolly Allen, and much more besides.
As part of this, the group are keen to collect comic anecdotes from members of the public. This might be a funny story, a memory of meeting (or working with) Tommy or Dolly, your favourite Aynuk and Ayli joke, or a tale about taking Black Country spake to people who don’t understand the accent.
We’re holding drop-in sessions in Black Country libraries this week, and would love to hear from you. Pop in to any of these, or email us at poetsprattlerspandemonialists@gmail.com to share your comedy, and maybe see it become part of the show on October 26th.
