Explore fantastical computer-generated ecosystems and play with amazing interactive creatures at Wolverhampton Art Gallery in a new summer exhibition Microworld Wolves: A Digital Adventure.
Microworld is a dynamic and interactive exhibition which has been seen by over 500,000 people.
Microworld Wolves fills three rooms with colourful projections and pixel-based creatures which respond to the audience – and is a celebration of a new type of living art that encourages experimentation and collaborative play.
Created by Genetic Moo, Microworld Wolves uses computers, projectors and sensors so that visitors can experience a fully interactive and immersive art space. They will encounter a digital ecosystem with actions and reactions cascading around the room from one piece to another.
As visitors walk into Room 1, the interaction begins; you can play, explore, experiment and communicate with alien species. Have fun and be creative - there are no rules. You can engage individually or together.
Room 2 is a hive of activity. Four different biologically inspired ecosystems go about their business. You will be able to see yourselves all around the room as each piece has a webcam. Live video will be added to and affect the creatures on each wall, and there are plenty of opportunities to create cool ecosystem selfies.
Room 3 consists of Worlds within Worlds which were generated in collaboration with Wolverhampton’s Art Forum. These animating worlds and AI posters explore population dynamics, utopian visions and resilience. This is an activity room and there will be lots of ways to join in.
City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Visitor City, Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, said: “Microworld Wolves: A Digital Adventure is a fantastic summer exhibition to get involved in.
“Visitors of all ages can create a rich interactive experience, take cool selfies, learn about the microworld and have a great day out!
“It will be an interactive summer of fun.”
