Top Folk Musicians to Share Their Skills with Wolverhampton
13th May 2019

Folk at the NAC is Wolverhampton’s home for Folk Music, situated at
Newhampton Arts Centre. This year’s programme has already seen top acts
like Martin Simpson and Jackie Oates play and delight audiences.

Next up on the bill is the wonderful Dan Walsh Trio on Saturday 11th of
May (tickets £12.50). Nominated for best musician at last year’s BBC
Folk Awards, Dan Walsh combines ‘virtuoso playing and winning
songwriting’ (MORNING STAR). This exciting new trio sees him team up
with award winning fiddler Ciaran Algar and long time collaborator Nic
Zuppardi on mandolin.

New for 2019, Folk at the NAC has also introduced music workshops by artists
in the programme. On the same day that the Dan Walsh Trio play NAC, Dan
Walsh will also be delivering a banjo master class. This workshop is open to
players wanting to develop their clawhammer banjo technique and takes a
look at the basic right and left hand techniques and then ideas for how to
embellish your playing beyond the basic bum-ditty: slurs, drop thumbing,
syncopation and much more, including the opportunity to ask any questions.
(£10)

Dan Whitehouse;
The Folk at the NAC programme will continue later into the year with
Faustus the NAC on Saturday 19th of October (£12.50) and finishing the
season is Lady Maisery on Friday 22nd of November (£15)

Please note that workshops are on the same day as the artist’s show, with
workshops starting at 3pm and finishing at 5pm, leaving time to enjoy dinner
at NAC’s onsite café, Jesters. Spaces for these workshops are strictly limited
and will be sold on a first come first served basis. More information and
special combination workshop and concert tickets for just £20 at:
