Keri J Hunt, a dynamic multidisciplinary artist from Wolverhampton, is set to challenge and inspire audiences with her bold, thought-provoking works in two upcoming events. She will perform live spoken word and photograph the energy of the event at the Clarendon Hotel on 3rd November from 6pm followed by her participation in the highly anticipated 1in3 Art Exhibition at the Mander Centre between 4th - 7th November. Both events, supported by Arts Council England, showcase Keri's unique blend of fine art, photography, and performance, all driven by her passion for resilience, activism, and an anti-establishment spirit.
Keri, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Digital and Photographic Art from Wolverhampton University, draws inspiration from graffiti, Dadaism, and Pop Art, seamlessly blending rebellion with resilience in her work. Her latest series, It’s Only Ever Temporary, was sparked by an inspiring piece of graffiti she discovered during lockdown, which became the foundation for her artistic journey. The message of "courage overcoming adversity" resonates throughout her pieces, challenging viewers to find strength in the face of hardship.
“In our darkest moments, we can find the strength to overcome challenges knowing that they are only temporary,” Keri shares. “That strength helps us face challenges and reminds us that everything is temporary.” This central theme drives her exhibition, which features surreal imagery and anarchic elements, reflecting her background as both an artist and a hairdresser. Her vibrant, rebellious style—where Andy Warhol’s pop art meets the raw energy of punk - pushes artistic boundaries and invites audiences to embrace empowerment, especially during tough times.
Keri’s work has already attracted significant attention, having been featured in the Recovery is For Everyone showcase at Newhampton Arts Centre, alongside initiatives from The Good Shepherd and SUIT. Her commitment to using art as a tool for healing, activism, and empowerment has established her as a key figure in the West Midlands’ creative scene. Obsessed with photography, photomontage, and satire, Keri's work often carries a strong anti-establishment sentiment, infused with vibrant, rebellious energy.
Her distinctive style—described as “Warhol meets the Sex Pistols”—is an unapologetic blend of street art, pop culture, and punk aesthetics. Keri challenges societal norms and encourages viewers to find empowerment in adversity, making her work both thought-provoking and unforgettable.
