Wolverhampton based art studio WV1 Studio is proud to announce the release of their fourth digital magazine. WV1 Studio Co-Founder and Studio Manager Jason Fullwood talks us through the creative process and the importance of having a magazine in digital format.
“When I envisioned the magazine originally, I wanted to have something accessible for everyone to be able to just pick up and read on the go. Making it in digital format was the best way to achieve this as mobile-phone users can download a copy if they are commuting to work or are on a lunch break or if they are at home and wanted to read what we have been up to. Volume 4 is quite special as it is our largest edition to date, we have had the team apply their creative juices on each of their sections and have expanded our featured artist section.
The importance of having the magazine during Covid-19 covers a few points, namely accessibility, for people who can’t leave their homes it’s easier for them to click on a link to download then it is for them to go to the shop. The magazine is free, we don’t charge people to download or view, this is something that I wanted to do for the art community and to give emerging artists a chance to have a voice, get some spotlight and to help raise awareness of their work”
The magazine has various features such as the Creative Corner, Food for Thought, What’s On, and Featured Artist, amongst many other articles in the magazine. This issue features Alex Vann who has several pages dedicated to his portfolio. For people who want to contribute or want to nominate someone for the magazine how do they get involved?
“We are open to anyone and everyone almost, the artists we use and have featured along the way, including Alex have all been from Wolverhampton. This is one aspect that we look at. We also try and differ each issue that we don’t repeat the featured artist’s medium, a few examples of this is to look at who we have featured so far. The last issue we had King Kupid who is a musician, prior to Kupid we had laser-scan artist Graham Everitt and photographer Alyson Fennell for our first issue. We try and be fair and the decision making process is a long and hard battle to contend with. If you want to be involved message our Facebook page and we can discuss from that point. “
This issue also marks a special giveaway where you can win a painting by 8:08 Creations, all you have to do is like WV1 Studio Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/WV1Studio/ comment on the magazine and share. The winner will be selected on Sunday 4th April.
