Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID) proudly unveiled its new Business Plan for the 2025–2030 term during a well-attended launch event. Held in the prestigious surroundings of Wolverhampton Grand Theatre’s Encore Lounge, the event brought together key representatives from across the city, offering a platform for business leaders to gain insight into the BID’s vision for the next five years.
The evening began in a welcoming atmosphere, attendees were a mix of businesses and organisations that make up the heartbeat of Wolverhampton, with names such as Barclays, The Way Youth Zone, West Bromwich Building Society, YMCA, Nationwide, Genting Casino, Henns Jewellers and the Good Shepherd represented.
Iain Watkins, Chair of Wolverhampton BID, delivered the event’s introduction, offering a reflective look at what the BID has achieved over its previous five-year term. Iain highlighted the BID’s impact on enhancing the city’s retail, commercial and business landscape, improving safety, and organising events that have drawn shoppers, residents and visitors into the city centre. The BID has played a pivotal role in creating a stronger business environment and supporting local enterprises through challenging economic times.
Following Iain’s review, BID Managing Director Cherry Shine took the stage to passionately outline the 2025-2030 Business Plan. Cherry’s enthusiasm was palpable as she walked attendees through the BID’s future goals, which are set to build on previous successes and adapt to emerging challenges and opportunities.
The new plan outlines several ambitious initiatives aimed at further improving Wolverhampton’s city centre. These include projects to boost footfall, enhance the visitor experience, continue the BID’s focus on supporting a welcoming city, safety initiatives and support for businesses. The strategy also underscores a commitment to sustainability, vibrant places and fostering stronger community partnerships.
“This Business Plan is the culmination of a shared vision,” Cherry remarked. “We’ve consulted closely with businesses, listened to their needs and shaped our strategy to not only address today’s challenges but ensure Wolverhampton thrives in the future.”
Rishi Sood from the BID’s Business Savings team also spoke about the opportunities afforded for BID business members in savings across business overheads secured through the BID.
The hour-long event concluded with a sense of optimism, with many attendees expressing their eagerness to see the plan in action.
