Light House, Wolverhampton’s only independent cinema and a vital city-centre community hub, has turned its spotlight on local businesses as it searches for partners to help secure its future.
Light House has been a registered charity for seven years, with a series of funding cuts putting it at risk of closure. As well as being a two-screen cinema, Light House is a base for many local support groups, including ones for carers, people with respiratory problems and a brain tumour support group. Many local creatives utilise Light House’s gallery and café spaces, including local poets and writers at the regular City Voices meetup, and Wool-verhampton – a ‘knit night’ held monthly.
The new partnership scheme, named ‘The Magnificents’ in reference to the classic cowboy film The Magnificent Seven, offers businesses the option of different levels of support over one to three year periods and ranging from £5000 to £25000. In return for their financial support, new ‘Magnificent’ partners can receive benefits including screen advertising, discounts on cinema tickets for all staff members, early bird access to Light House events and much more.
Light House CEO Kelly Jeffs says:
‘Times are tough for everyone, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years. We’ve really got to ramp up our fundraising to the next level now, and we’re hopeful that the Magnificent partner packages we offer will be enticing to local businesses looking for a good cause to support. You wouldn’t just be supporting Light House, you’d be enabling us to keep supporting our regular groups, which are a lifeline to many.’
