International Women's Day saw a night of celebrations in Wolverhampton as Julie Grainger, founder of Alz Cafe - a Dementia Support group based in Penn , was awarded her MBE for services to people living with Dementia.
Julie decided to decline her invite to Windsor Castle instead choosing to be awarded the honour in a ceremony in front of all her friends and family at the cafe itself.
The Cafe is held the 1st Tuesday of every month 7pm to 9pm at Penn United Reform Church where food and entertainment is provided in a safe environment for people living with Dementia, their carers and their loved ones.
The service is staffed entirely by volunteers and relies solely on fundraising and donations.
They also run day trips every other month which have included meals, trips to the motor museum and black county museum canal trips .
Well done Julie for your selfless dedication to others living with this cruel disease as you become Mrs Grainger MBE Julia Farrell BA (Hons) Chair of Wolverhampton City Fairtrade Partnership.
