The Bilston based charity is one of the longest serving Theatre in Education companies still in existence in the country, and provides a range of services to schools, communities and organisations in and around Wolverhampton.
It turns 40 this May and, to help celebrate the milestone, bosses have launched a competition to design a new logo.
Gazebo Chief Executive Pamela Cole-Hudson said: “We are delighted to be celebrating our 40 anniversary shortly and are organising a full programme of events over the next 12 months to celebrate the work Gazebo has produced over the years and the positive impact it has had on people’s lives and careers in that time.
“We are also looking to the future, and would like to mark our birthday by unveiling a new logo – one that celebrates our heritage but also looks ahead to the next 40 years. It would be fantastic for the children and young people of Wolverhampton to get involved.
“The competition is open to children and young people up to the age of 25, and we’re encouraging families, schools, colleges, youth and community groups and faith organisations to take part.”
The designer of the winning logo will receive a £100 voucher and a place for them and a friend at one of Gazebo’s 40th anniversary celebration events. There will also be a range of prizes for the runners-up.
Pamela added: “We know that we have some fabulously creative children and young people here in Wolverhampton and we’re really looking forward to seeing their designs.”
Entries should be scanned and emailed to sarah.parton@gazebotheatre.com, with “Logo Competition” in the subject line. Each entry should be labelled with the name of the artist, their age (if under 18), the name of their school or provision (for example ‘The Way’) and contact details. Hard copies can also be posted to: Logo Competition, Gazebo Theatre in Education, The Gazebo Hub, Chancel Court, 2 Wellington Road, Bilston WV14 6AA. The deadline for entries is 12 April, 2019.
Councillor Lynne Moran, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Gazebo has done some fabulous work with our city’s children and young people over the last four decades, and is looking forward to marking its 40th anniversary in style.
“This is a great opportunity for young people to play their part in the celebrations by getting creative and helping to design a new logo.”
