Moscow City Ballet Presents Two Magnificent Ballets

 

 

The Moscow City Ballet is to present not one but two enchanting ballets this December at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre -  an exhilarating traditional Russian version of Cinderella followed by a beautifully designed version of Romeo and Juliet. The music which accompanies both ballets is the work of the great Russian composer Prokofiev.

 

Moscow City Ballet were the first Russian company with full productions to tour both the UK and Ireland becoming the bedrock on which dance audiences have been encouraged and built in theatres all over the UK.

 

Moscow City Ballet was formed in 1988 by the distinguished Russian Choreographer Victor Smirnov-Golovanov; a highly acclaimed ex soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet. Smirnov-Golovanov enjoys bringing his heritage of classical ballet in the Moscow style to audiences all over the world. Moscow City Ballet, accompanied by the Moscow Ballet Orchestra perform to the highest standard and audiences have enjoyed the unique style and artistic integrity of Victor Smirnov-Golovanov's own choreography, as well as original versions of the great classical Russian repertoire. 

 

The Company has some of the most accomplished, artistic soloists, and a sublime corps de ballet, all schooled in the in the finest traditions of the Russian school. The costumes and sets are opulent, colourful, and a feast for the eye when the curtain goes up. Moscow City Ballet’s distinctive style endures both in production and rehearsal, due to the dedication of Victor Smirnov-Golovanov and his wife, Ludmila Nerubashenko, Chief Ballet Mistress and principal teacher.
