Wolverhampton Grand Theatre To Present Unique Education Event : Kes Behind the Scenes!

Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in conjunction with The Touring Consortium is set to pave the way for future theatrical education events. Prior to the week run of Kes - the Grand will throw open its doors and present a unique complete open access event, Kes Behind The Scenes on Monday 16 November which is completely FREE and open to all.

During the afternoon of Monday 16 November, Schools, Colleges and Universities are invited to the Grand to attend the “Get In” (process of building the set after it has transferred from another theatre) with live commentary by The Touring Consortium’s Associate Producer Neale Birch. Students will have the opportunity to view every technical element of putting on a show from the page to the stage. Members of the technical team will be on hand to answer questions from the spectators throughout. With more and more educational courses looking at the technical side of the theatre this will be the perfect opportunity for students.

The evening event will commence with a touch tour of the set followed by speeches from Lawrence Till (director and producer of Channel 4’s Shameless) who has adapted Kes for the Stage; Jenny King for the Touring Consortium and Peter Cutchie, Grand Theatre’s Chief Executive. The cast will perform scenes from the show including BSL Interpretation, Captioning and Audio Description followed by a question and answer session with all cast members.
