Newhampton Arts Centre calls for visual artists to take part in the cities ultimate art & photography challenge as Paint the Day returns for summer 2021. This outdoor family event organised by NAC is now in it’s seventh year running and helps bring the Wolverhampton community together in a safe and creative way while helping to promote the natural and hidden beauty of our surroundings.

The much-loved artist challenge and exhibition is open to artists and photographers of all levels, including professional artists, amateurs and families alike. On Saturday the 24th July Paint the Day begins when participants set out to create their very own masterpiece in just eight hours, capturing a scene within a brand-new three mile radius of the Arts Centre. This new route for 2021 also encourages participants to capture the beauty of the Wolverhampton’s canals, as NAC teams up with Wildside Activity Centre, giving new opportunities, inspiration and possibilities to returning artists. Participations can use anything from traditional watercolours, experimental photography to abstract collage, allowing them to interpret their scene and the day in any visual style they wish.

On Sunday the 25th July, all entries will be displayed in a FREE public exhibition, this is where our judges make their choices and prizes will be awarded. Vistors can also expect open studios and FREE drop-in art workshops for children on the Sunday. All Paint the Day exhibit visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favourite work of art in the week long exhibition and can bid on individual pieces, giving artists a chance to sell their work in an auction.

Paint the Day 2021 prizes are as follows; First Prize: £300, Photography: £150, Public Vote: £100, Under 18s: £50 and our all-new Canal Prize: £50 not forgetting NAC’s usual runner up cash prizes too.

Paint the Day 2021 artist registration cost just £6 (Early Bird available until Saturday 3rd July) and £2 per child, with advance and family tickets also available too. All tickets can be easily obtained through the Newhampton Arts Centre website
