Children enjoyed activities with Aspiring Futures last week, just one of hundreds of events offered by Yo! Wolves to keep young people occupied and entertained during the half-term holidays.
May half-term holiday activities provided by Aspiring Futures were in full flow, offering the city’s young people plenty to do along with a nutritious meal at The Saplings and the Al Amin centre in Wolverhampton.
Children aged between six and 16 were able to enjoy a free lunch along with a varied programme of fun and exciting things to do, including an opportunity to learn self-defence skills, delivered by fully trained instructors from ‘Krav Maga’.
Councillor Christopher Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, paid a visit and said: “It was great to visit Aspiring Futures and see first-hand how much our children and young people are enjoying the events and activities that they are providing.
“It’s so important that we can offer opportunities for children to learn, have fun, socialise, and eat for free at many venues during the half-term holidays. We know how difficult school holidays can be for many families at the best of times and, particularly this year. We hope this has given a little support for parents this half-term.”
Amanda Newell of Aspiring Futures, added: “We are delighted to have welcomed Councillor Christopher Burden to see one of our holiday clubs in action and experience some of the things we offer to young people in Wolverhampton.
“We believe it is so important to provide opportunities for children and young people to learn new skills, make new friends and take part in fun activities in a safe environment. It is lovely to see children enjoying themselves and we are pleased to be part of the Yo! Wolves programme providing much needed support for families and communities.”
Full details of all the events and activities taking place as part of Yo! Wolves can be found on the website.
The Summer Yo! Wolves programme will be launched at the end of June, offering hundreds of events and activities for children, young people and their families during the long summer school break. Please keep an eye on the website, www.yowolves.co.uk, for more details.
