City school children will be singing festive favourites at Wolverhampton’s markets this month to offer shoppers all the joy of the season.
City of Wolverhampton Council has organised the special carol concerts, which will take place at Bilston, City Centre and Wednesfield markets.
Pupils from Villiers Primary School, Bilston CoE Primary School, St Theresa’s Catholic Primary Academy, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary Academy and St Patrick’s Catholic Primary Academy will be performing for Christmas shoppers.
And to add to the seasonal feel, traders are making sure they have a lot of festive treats for customers to stock up on gifts and stocking fillers.
City of Wolverhampton Council’s cabinet member for city environment and climate change, Councillor Steve Evans, said: "What a great way to shop - browsing the stalls accompanied by festive songs from the city’s talented young people.
“Our markets offer fantastic quality and value all year round, but with the special carol concerts and festive stock, they are really getting in the spirit of the season.
“Whether fresh fruit and veg for the big day, presents for under the tree or some tempting treats for the whole holiday, our market traders can offer shoppers some fantastic choices this Christmas.”
The schedule of concerts from school pupils is as follows:
Bilston Market - Monday 6 December, from 10am, Villiers Primary School. Monday 13 December, from 2pm, Bilston CoE Primary School.
City Centre Market - Wednesday 8 December, from 9.45am, St Theresa’s Catholic Primary Academy. Wednesday 15 December, from 1.15pm, SS Peter and Paul’s Catholic Primary Academy.

Shoppers are reminded to be considerate to others when out and about and follow guidance on face coverings, unless exempt.
