On Monday 19th HRH The Duchess of Cambridge officially opened The Treehouse, in Ipswich.
The Treehouse is part of EACH (East Anglian Children's Hospices) and provides support for families and care for children with a life threatening conditions. EACH run hospices across Cambridge, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Kate arrived to a crowd of pepole cheering and waving Union Jacks before being shown around inside.
She then made her first public speech saying:
“Thank you for not only accepting me as your Patron but thank you also for inviting me here today."
“You have all made me feel so welcome and I feel hugely honoured to be here to see this wonderful centre."
“I am only sorry that William can’t be here today; he would love it here."
The Duchess of Cambridge also commented on the amazing teamwork displayed by the local community making it possible to build The Treehouse.
The Treehouse replaced a smaller building and opened last year after a £3m public appeal during which local people and businesses worked together to make it happen.
EACH became one of Kate's four chosen charities in January.
I have been writing blogs for thebestof since June 2012 and really enjoy spreading the word about local events, businesses and general information in the Woodbridge, Framlingham, Aldeburgh and Southwold...
