Football Club in Worcester
Established in September 1902, Worcester City FC has spent the majority of their history in non league football.
After 108 years of playing at their home ground in St George’s Lane, Worcester, WCFC first team played their last game there on 27 April 2013.
This wonderful old ground was sold off by the previous board to pay for club debts with the promise of an iconic stadium at Nunnery Way in the future.
The dream is there … a fantastic new ground, land, road access etc – but unfortunately there are challenges - WCFC needs money to build on that ground by 2017.
In the mean time, WCFC is contracted to ground share with Kidderminster Harriers for the next two years, in Kidderminster.
WCFC has 800 core supporters, many of whom are older people who have followed the club for many years.
At least 340 loyal fans quickly paid £100 each for season tickets to allow them to continue playing in the Blue Square Bet North league, with a reduced playing budget for another season.
With membership rising, there is a viable alternative to Nunnery Way in the form of a modest community stadium at Perdiswell - which could be the potential new home for WCFC in 2015.
The WCFC Supporters Trust was formed to ensure WCFC survives and members currently work alongside the current board, campaigning to keep the Club alive.
