A care home in Worcester is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.
On Friday 28th June, from 2.30pm-5pm, the team at Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.
This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.
The team at Perry Manor has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to a ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ garden party, complete with entertainment to get everyone in the party spirit.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in a host of arts and crafts workshops, as well as enjoying an art exhibition showcasing residents creations, and a tasty barbecue.
Katherine Matthews, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “Everyone at Perry Manor is so excited to welcome the local community in for Care Home Open Day 2019. The people of Worcester have always been so welcoming to us, it’s great to be able to give something back.
“This year’s theme of ‘Celebrating Arts in Care’ is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase all the brilliant activities we get up to on a daily basis here at Perry Manor, such as arts and crafts. And we hope that lots of local people will join us on Friday 28th June.”
As part of a nationwide competition across Care UK homes, Perry Manor will be developing a work of art in the lead up to the open day, which will be showcased at the event.
Perry Manor is a purpose-built Care UK home, located in Worcester. The home provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as a short-term respite care. In October 2018, it was rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC.
