After a fairytale end to the 2010 season, Worcestershire CCC have announced that Daryl Mitchell has been confirmed as county captain.
Since assuming the interim captaincy after the resignation of Vikram Solanki on August 12, Mitchell has led Worcestershire CCC to three victories and one draw in their last four LV = County Championship games, and overseen the Club's promotion to Division One of the competition.
Mitchell, who has just signed a new four year contract, is eagerly anticipating the challenge of top flight domestic cricket at New Road. The 26-year-old said: "I am pleased to commit my future to Worcestershire and it is an honour to be made captain. I'm looking forward to the season ahead."
Director of cricket, Steve Rhodes, said "I am absolutely delighted that Daryl's services of captaincy are secured for next season, and that he has committed his future to the club with a four year contract. I am enjoying working with Daryl, and look forward to seeing his progression as captain."
