August 7 – The Walled Garden, Rose Terrace, Worcester (WR5 1BU) 11am to 5pm (admission £2.50)
The Walled Garden, a 19th century walled kitchen garden, is a tapestry of culinary and medicinal herbs, vegetables, flowers and fruit grown organically in herb and flower beds and a potager. This is a peaceful oasis in a busy and vibrant city.
August 8 – High View, Martley (WR6 6PW) 11am to 5pm (admission £4)
This intriguing two-and-a-half acre garden, which has been developed over 30 years, has magnificent views over the Teme Valley. Features include patio container planting, ponds and imaginatively designed borders containing many unusual trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants selected for summer colour.
August 11 – Hiraeth in Showell Road, Droitwich (WR9 8UY) 12noon to 5pm (admission £2.50)
Hiraeth is not a large garden but is packed full of traditional cottage garden plants including hostas and ferns. It is also full of surprises, like the 200 year old stile, the oak and metal sculptures and the pool and waterfall.
August 18 – Beckett Drive Gardens (group garden), Northwick, Worcester (WR3 7BZ) 7pm to 9pm (evening opening with wine - (admission £4)
Two individual but contrasting gardens with an abundance of plants and interesting design ideas. No. 5 Beckett Drive has something of interest round every corner. The garden includes some unexpected and surprising features together with a bed for sun loving plants. It was featured in the national Garden News magazine last year. 6 Beckett Drive is an eclectic mix of planting, modern sculpture and water features with lighting for each, ornamental grasses and a natural arbour.
August 29 and 30 – Whitlenge Gardens, Whitlenge Lane, Hartlebury (DY10 4HD) 10 – 5 pm (admission £2.50)
Whitlenge Gardens is the three acre show garden of a professional designer with over 800 varieties of trees and shrubs, together with a twisted pillar pergola, camomile lawn, waterfalls and pools and plenty of other special features.
