STUNNING costumes, anthemic songs and risque jokes - it has to be panto time and this year's offering at Malvern Theatres is a real cracker.
Sleeping Beauty received rapturous applause from the first night audience and quite rightly so as the strong cast served up two hours of first class entertainment.
The plot is thin but that merely gives the performers more chance to sing, dance and act up in wacky slapstrick routines. I particularly enjoyed the mimickry in the mirror room courtesy of Silly Billy (Derek Moran) and Nanny Glucose (Charles Burden).
Alexandra Gottschall and Stephen Whitson made a delightful royal couple, David Alcock was a madcap king while Toyah Willcox and Wendy-Lee Purdy traded insults as the Bad and Good Fairies respectively.
Sleeping Beauty runs until January 9. For tickets, call 01684 892277.
