The Agatha Christie Theatre Company presents a new production of Agatha Christie’s classic thriller Murder on the Nile, which begins Worthing Theatres’ PlaySaver season and commemorates 65 years since the play was first staged.
Prolific stage actress Kate O’Mara, who has starred in television hits including Dynasty and Bad Girls, leads the company joined by Denis Lill whose TV career most recently included roles in The Royal and Doctor Who. Susie Amy from 71 Degrees North and Footballers’ Wives performs alongside them with Chloe Newsome from Coronation St, Ben Nealon from Soldier Soldier and 60s pop idol, Mark Wynter.
Agatha Christie’s stage adaptation of her novel Death on the Nile opened on Broadway as Murder on the Nile in 1946 and tells the thrilling story of honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay who are pursued by an old flame of Simon’s while cruising onboard a steamer in the Egyptian sun. Tragedy strikes and a body is discovered, with all fingers pointing to Simon’s ex fiancée, but when holidaying cleric Canon Pennefather is drawn into the web of intrigue and deceit he finds himself on the trail of a ruthless murderer.
This latest instalment from The Agatha Christie Theatre Company is directed by Joe Harmston and follows his previous Christie successes Witness for the Prosecution, And Then There Were None, Murder on Air, The Unexpected Guest, The Hollow and Spider’s Web.
Murder on the Nile is the first play out of six included in Worthing Theatres’ PlaySaver season which gives theatre-lovers a discount the more tickets they purchase.
