The poignant life-story of Washington-born singer Eva Cassidy will be re-told through music and song, starring Hollyoaks’ Sarah Jane Buckley, Any Dream Will Do’s Rob Mcveigh and Coronation St.’s Pauline Fleming at Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre on February 17.

By the time of Eva Cassidy’s death, she was unknown outside Washington but within four years Terry Wogan discovered and promoted her haunting interpretation of Somewhere over the Rainbow on his BBC Radio 2 show and the song reached the top of the UK chart.

Now the musical play journeys through her life, from her idyllic childhood growing up in a musical family and her studio work with boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo to her exuberant live recording of Blues Alley and finally her tragic death at age 33.

Her album Imagine entered the charts at number one, ahead of Robbie Williams and Beyoncé, and her interpretations have received accolades from Roberta Flack, Mick Fleetwood and Sting.  She is the only female artist ever to receive three posthumous number one albums.

The moving and uplifting love story features over 27 of Eva’s best-loved songs including The Water is Wide, Fields of Gold, Somewhere over the Rainbow, Fever, People get Ready, I Know you by Heart and What a Wonderful World.
