Stranded motor boat assisted by Littlehampton RNLI
on Saturday 24 January a 999 call was received by the coastguard from the crew of a small motor boat reporting engine failure and that they were stranded near the entrance to Littlehampton harbour, unable to proceed up the river to their moorings. The volunteer crew of Littlehampton RNLI lifeboat were paged at 5pm.
The RNLI stations Atlantic 7O5 Blue Peter 1 lifeboat was launched ten minutes later with volunteer crew members Rob Devo, Ivan Greer, and Richard Winstanley aboard, and headed out towards the stranded vessel. At the scene alongside the vessel the volunteer crew members rigged a tow line in preparation for its recovery.
The vessel was then taken under tow and was returned safely to its moorings. The lifeboat returned to the station at 6:05pm where it was refuelled and made ready for service.
