So the Worthing Herald is looking for the ugliest building locally, and have today pitched a few nominees. In my view their shortlist (including the law courts and Argos) omits one spectacular eyesore that would shoot straight to the top of my list: The NCP opposite the Lido.
How anyone can look past this monstrosity (figuratively or literally) is quite beyond me. A striking example of 'brutalism' at its most powerful, it dominates the seafront, looming over promenading residents like an angry concrete God.
I will concede quite happily that it offers some striking views, not least looking West along the seafront in the early evening, but still reckon it should be pulled down and used for sea defences or something.
