The organisers of the annual Anglo/Welsh Festival at the Wrexham Rugby Football club must have been thanking their lucky stars today. Rugby Union stars Sam Warburton and Ryan Jones showed up to the Festival at midday to the delight of players and parents for an impromptu autograph and photo session.
Sam and Ryan, both whom play for the Welsh National team, were in Llangollen for a fundraising dinner on Saturday night. Before heading
back to Cardiff on Sunday, the rugby stars made time to stop at the tournament which is for age groups Under 8s to Under 12s. This year, over 45 teams from Wales and England were competing in the annual Wrexham tournament, a major fundraiser for the Rugby Club.
It's not easy to organise and then run a festival of this size by a volunteer group, but Wrexham RFC successfully managed a superb event once again. With crowds gathered round the Welsh rugby stars, both of whom have captained the National team and who will be on this summer's British Lions tour, Wrexham RFC's organising committee will have plenty to smile about.
For many clubs, Sunday's Festival marked the end of the season - and whether the teams won or not, most will agree it was a fantastic day for the
promotion of rugby for our youth.
