Blog by Marc Jones of Save Plas Madoc:

"The mass protest outside Plas Madoc on Saturday was a huge and noisy reminder to Wrexham councillors to SAVE OUR SERVICES.It was great to see everyone, including some opposition councillors and one Assembly Member, join the community protest, dancing and linking hands around the centre.

People power seems to be working. The council was due to vote on the closures on Tuesday but has put back the decision on Plas Madoc, Waterworld and other leisure facilities by a month because of the scale of the protest. There is no doubt that they are rattled. We must keep up the pressure and make councillors realise how important it is to keep our leisure services.

The next key date is a workshop for all councillors in the Guildhall on Tuesday, February 4th at 2pm. That's when councillors will discuss the future of the leisure facilities and hopefully reject the idea of closure. We want everyone possible to attend a protest rally outside the Guildhall on Llwyn Isaf at 1pm so that all the councillors attending are clear what people think of the consultant's recommendation to close.

Your presence can make a difference - please bring banners, placards and something to make a noise with (pots, pans, whistles and drums).

As well as this and signing our petition, you can write to your own councillor. If you're not sure who that is, please go to our savepmlc.wordpress.com for sample letters and the latest information. Please copy in all the other councillors listed on the website.

Thanks for your ongoing support - we're nearly up to 1500 signatories and this petition will be handed in to council leader Neil Rogers before the final decision."
