I was pleased to attend The Foundry's first Network Meeting yesterday evening at Central Station. It was well attended and featured an exhibition of work from local artists. The organiser, Dave Gray ran the show with help from Centrals Aled and Matt and a good time was had by all and, the main purpose of the evening, new contacts made and old friendships renewed. Central Station proved to be an excellent venue and a great buffet was provided for us all to enjoy.
The evening was a great success and David confirmed that he intends to make it a regular event with the next one scheduled for around Halloween. We will be publicising it on our Events page, make a point of attending.
The recurring theme in conversations across the board was the effect of the recession, increasing business costs and the difficulty to raise funding. Don't misunderstand me, there was a feeling of controlled optimism, green shoots were visible in many areas, but fertilizer was in short supply.
