York Cares, a charity that aims to support disadvantaged children in York, has announced the launch of a new scheme called Kids’ College, which requires the help of local businesses.
The scheme aims to bring together local companies and student volunteers from the University of York to provide primary school children with work experiences that will inspire them to pursue a career in local business.
Previous themes of the scheme have included transport, finance and cookery, with students from Tang Hall helping to run York Train Station for the day and make announcements, with the help of employees from Northern Rail.
York Cares hopes to recruit around 100 local businesses before the launch of the scheme at the end of May.
The charity is especially interested to hear from companies involved in technology, the natural world and law or justice.
